What did we do today?

• We had POD meetings today and awarded one boy and one girl from both our morning and afternoon PODs the Top Banana Award.  This award is given to the boy and girl we feel are the best example of an exemplary student.
  
• In class we talked about what traits a hero has and then students learned a little about a hero from one of the 5 tribes of Utah.  They made a card with information about this hero.
  

HOMEWORK:  Make sure you have your idea for your American Indian myth.  We will be writing the rough draft in class tomorrow and it is due tomorrow.

What did we do today:

• We presented the remainder of the tribe projects.
  
• We then learned about myths and legends in American Indian culture.
  
• I then assigned a myth project.  Each student will write a myth.  The rough draft is due next Tuesday and the final draft is due Thursday November 3rd.

What did we do today?

• I gave the students 20 minutes to learn their tribe cheer. 
  
• Then, groups began presenting.  We got through 1-2 presentations per class.
  

HOMEWORK: Study American Indian Vocabulary and Prehistoric American Indians worksheets.

What did we do in class today?

• We are doing a Stretch and Reteach activity today.  Students who did not do well on the geology test are being retaught the concepts they did not get the first time.
  
• Students who did well on the test will be using the following websites for a stretch activity.

What did we do in class today?

• We had POD meetings today which includes 20 minutes of reading (DEAR), a literacy lesson and POD announcements, birthdays and student recognition.
  
• We spent the rest of the time working on the tribe projects.  Students should be done with their poster, banner and cheer.  On Wednesday they are going to teach their groups the cheer and finalize who is talking during the powerpoint.  Many students have been slacking off and are far behind.  Please ask your child how their project is coming and if they are done with their part of it. 
  

HOMEWORK: Finish whatever they need to on their project.

What did we do in class today?

• Students continued to work on their tribe projects.  Some groups are working very hard and accomplishing a lot.
  
• EXTRA CREDIT!  I am attaching an extra credit assignment below.  I told your student that it was due Monday but I changed my mind.  It is due by October 28th.   I do not offer extra credit very often so take advantage of this opportunity. 
  

HOMEWORK:  Finish whatever they did not finish on their projects in class.
   PowerPoint - Title slide and slides 1-4 done.
    Cheer - First 15 lines written
    Banner - Everything traced onto the final banner.  They will color it on Monday.

What did we do today?

• Students worked on the research sheet for their tribe project. 
  
• They will be working on this tomorrow and Monday.  They are due Tuesday.

What did we do today?

• We started the American Indian Tribe Project.  I attached the project requirements below.  Students were divided into groups and I explained the project. 
  
• They had just a few minutes to start working on their research sheet. 
  
• Projects are due Tuesday, October 25th.  However, I may move that day to Wednesday if I see that they need more time.

What did we do today?

• We finished a worksheet about the Prehistoric American Indian Tribes. 
  
• Then we discussed the importance of artifacts.  
• Students were then given a bag with 4 artifacts from 2011 and had to pretend that they were archeologists from 3011.  They wrote down what the artifacts looked like and made predictions about what the items would be used for.
